Riga Secondary Night Shift School N#9 has two shifts: morning and evening shift. School has students who combine studying with working at the same time. School also has extramural teaching classes, where students can also learn partly in e-learning format. In these classes are students who are workers, young mothers, students with health problems or with long learning break in the learning process.

Morning shift basically is meant for primary school students and social correction classes. Social correction classes are being used to reduce or to eliminate student social behaviour, or the deviation of values to form the development of new patterns of behaviour. Individual work takes place in dealing with students who needs additional help from staff to learn curriculum.

Knowledge and skills required for independent life within the society are provided to minor law-breakers. Minor lawbreakers are also given an opportunity to master professional skills. An important task of a social correction educational establishment is also to take care of the improvement of students’ health and to provide addiction (alcohol, drugs, toxic substances, etc.) treatment in cases of necessity.

 

EXPECTATIONS FROM THE PROGRAMME

 

In this project we are planning to involve students mainly from social correction classes to make them feel more responsible about environment and let them think. To change the system one must change student’s values and their way of thinking. “ A 'green' future for Europe’ project must be introduced that would bring a new paradigm. Something that would affect not a few, but many at the same time.
